GranTurismo MC wins at Vallelunga

21/11/2010 - Vallelunga
First and Second place in the GT Cup category for the the two Maserati GranTurismo MCs involved in the race this weekend in the 20th Vallelunga 6 Hours.

The GT Cup victory went to Andrea Bertolini and Alessandro Pier Guidi (tenth overall), in front of the other Maserati, driven by Lorenzo Casè and Phil Bastiaans (fifteenth in the general rankings).

While maintaining first place in its category, Bertolini/Pier Guidi's no. 29 solidified its recovery in the overall classification by climbing from twenty-second place to tenth.

In the other car, Bastiaans obtained second place in the last fifteen minutes of the race, overtaking Negra/Kessel/Earle's Kessel Racing car no. 30 and recovering positions and time lost earlier due to a flat tire.

Both cars included some technical innovations for 2011 which may be implemented in the next Trofeo Maserati.

The race was plagued by intermittent rain, forcing drivers to go to the pits several times to change tires suitable for either a dry or wet track.

Andrea Chiesa and Gabriel Gardel's Swiss Team, a private team, with a Maserati GranTurismo MC GT4, came in thirteenth place, second in the GT4 category.

A recap of the race (26 minutes) will be broadcast on Thursday, 2 December, at 8 pm GMT on Play Tv on Sky's channel 869.
