"The turning point in the race was when Sbirrazzuoli caught me. He flanked me and tried to overtake while I was dealing with a back marker but ended up clipping the other car and careered off. I think he just misjudged it: with his pace he could have waited a bit and overtaken me later. We will see what happens in Race 2 and that will decide who takes the European title. I don't like making predictions so I will just be urging my team mate, Fascicolo, to do his best because he has to drive the race of his life. We will see where we stand at the chequered flag".
Renaud Kuppens - Konvex Motorsport (2nd Overall, 1st Team): "I got off to a good start but, from the first few corners on, had to bow to Sernagiotto, and then Sbirrazzuoli, because they were much quicker. It was impossible to keep up with them so I decided to focus on my own race and minimise the risks. If Sbirrazzuoli hadn't made a mistake, I'd have come in third. I will be on pole in this afternoon's race and this could help me win the European title. I will be doing my best so we will have to wait and see how it goes".
Alan Simoni (3rd Overall, 2nd Trofeo): "Given what happened in the last few rounds, my aim was to stay out of trouble. I did well: at the start I got past a few rivals and then settled down. My cautious strategy paid off as I finished third".
