21/04/2012 - Imola
Fittipaldi: "The potential is there but I don't know the Quattroporte Evo that well"

Christian Fittipaldi: "I got off to a good start at Imola and set the 4th and 5th best times in free practice even though I have had only a few laps' preparation in the Quattroporte Evo. In qualifying I couldn't get the most out of the new tyres: with the first set I couldn't use the tyre covers because we had to keep them primed for the second session when I had built up a bit of experience in the car.

So, I went out on cold tyres and wasn't able to better my practice lap time. With the second set on, there was traffic out on the track early on and then I spun. I have to admit that I hoped to do better because this car has all that it takes to go under 1'50". Still, I only drove the Quattroporte Evo for the first time just two days before Imola and I will need more time to get to know it and set it up for my driving style. This is especially important in series as competitive as Superstars.

In any case, I don't think I could have done better than 5th or 6th. I am still hopeful going into the race because the Quattroporte Evo is very well balanced and doesn't stress the tyres too much. This means we can put in a series of good lap times and climb up the field".

Cesari:
"I had only one good lap but am ok about it"

Mauro Cesari:
"I am confident because the car is improving all the time and so am I. I had some oversteer at the start of practice and it bothered me a bit. We largely managed to eliminate the problem with modifications made in session two of free practice. In qualifying there was a gap of about 1"2 between me and more expert drivers like Fittipaldi and so I am pretty pleased. Things could have turned out even better if Morbidelli, in the Audi RS5, hadn't overtaken me and then immediately got into trouble. This meant that I briefly ran off the track. There was also some oil on the circuit and I ended up spinning. In the end, I managed only one quick lap, one that saw me set 1'52"544. If I end up in the top eight in Race 1, I could be in the running for the second race. I am confident and think I can reach my targets".
