Francesco La Mazza: "I haven't raced since last November. I noticed a difference between this and the 2010 car and am satisfied with the Maserati GranTurismo 2011.

"This car is more alive, pulls better and has much better brakes. I am also pleased with my performance, especially as I have been away from the action for so long. I hope the second session goes better than the first; it is odd but I went much faster yesterday on old tyres than I did today on new ones. Even so, everything is to play for tomorrow. I like longer races and I feel ready for the 50 minute race. I am not worried at all".

Tiziano Frazza:
"I am making a comeback in the Maserati GranTurismo MC after a long while away from the track. This year's car seems much more reactive and powerful. I also think the aerodynamics have been improved as there is less roll. You notice this most when changing direction. The brakes are much better but I still have to get used to them. All told, it is faster, has better braking and handles better in curves. Usually, the best lap times are set in the race itself. Things went as I thought they would. I improved by two seconds between the first and second free practice sessions and bettered my time by over a second and a half in qualifying. Unfortunately, I missed out on a couple of laps where I could have lowered my lap time even more after a crash slowed me down. I think I should improve tomorrow as I will have got to know the car even more. The longer race format doesn't bother me: the longest races I had last year were in a Maserati and, this year, have competed in three 24 hour and four 6 hour events, albeit in less powerful cars".

Adrian Newey: "This is my first time in a Maserati GranTurismo MC Trofeo and, I have to say, I am really enjoying it. I felt at home right away. I had free practice yesterday and qualifying for Sunday's race this morning. I have been trying to get to know the car and the circuit better. Mugello is a track I really like; it has plenty of fast curves. My aim is to bring out the best in myself and the car".

Alessandro Pier Guidi: "Qualifying went pretty well. The car was well balanced and I felt good in it. I wasn't quick right away because of the track temperature but, after a few laps, I picked up the pace. Still, I am happy. Yesterday we completed a long run in preparation for the race and we didn't have any problems. We will see how things go in qualifying where the track will be much warmer than this morning".
