"The only thing missing was the fastest lap time but this was because the local drivers showed us all how this circuit should be driven. Still, the important thing was the win and I achieved this. They were two tough races where I had to battle it out with Sabino De Castro and then Ardagna in the afternoon. It was difficult but I held out. I would like to thank Maserati for helping me so much, as well as my family and manager. They follow me everywhere and I was finally able to deliver a good performance in such an important championship”.
Gaetano Ardagna (4th overall, 2nd Trofeo):
“I got off to a superb start and climbed from fifth to second. I then had some trouble with a back marker who caused me to run off the track and lose time. I collided with Piancastelli during our battle and then he got past me. I tried to get back but it is really hard to overtake on this circuit. In all, I am pleased because I managed to cross the line even after three clashes. It was tough just staying on the track”.
David Baldi (5th overall, 3rd Trofeo):
“It was one of the hardest races in my career. I couldn’t get to grips with the circuit… I have to congratulate the local drivers how showed how the Hungaroring should be driven in this car. Even so, I am pleased with the result because I am still top overall”.
