Norbert Kiss: "I can’t not be pleased with the outcome of free practice, obtained in a car I have never driven before".

Janos Vida:I have lost count of the number of times I have driven around this circuit; you could say that I know the curves by heart. This is probably why I managed to set good times on my Maserati GranTurismo MC Trofeo debut. It was an important factor and certainly helped, as did my experience of racing. I really like the car, especially the engine and brakes, which really impressed me. We will see what happens over the next two days but I will try to steer clear of the title chasers as I am only a guest and won’t pick up any points”.

Renaud Kuppens:Not bad for my first outing in the Trofeo Maserati where I have it all to learn. I am happy with how day one went: the first free practice session went well but I had to deal with tyre wear in session two as I had pushed hard earlier on. I also made a mistake with the gearbox and this cost me a few minutes. I tried to set a quick lap towards the end but there was a lot of traffic out there and then the yellow flag came out. Let’s see how things go tomorrow”.

Matteo Castiglioni:The circuit is superb and technically demanding. I am having more trouble than the other drivers because I am used to driving a Lotus, which is very different. The Maserati has much more horsepower. I have a lot to learn, from the car to the track. Still, it is fun”.

Alessandra Neri: I was comfortable on the first day of practice. The car did slide around a little but this was probably because the overnight rain made the surface damp. I felt at home in the car straight away but I think I can improve a lot, starting with the braking. I am used to driving cars fitted with ABS, something the Maserati GranTurismo MC Trofeo does without. It was tricky getting used to but I think it is just a matter of time. I noticed that the top times were more or less the same in the two sessions. I am hopeful going into Qualifying and Sunday’s races”.

Norbert Kiss:I can’t not be pleased with the outcome of free practice, obtained in a car I have never driven before. We will have new tyres for tomorrow’s qualifying and I hope to improve my times. I liked the GranTurismo MC Trofeo, especially the gearbox”.
