The race had its ups and downs: I saw the clash between Ardagna and Piancastelli and made the most of it. I then almost cut out the engine trying to turn on the windscreen wipers and went into a panic. Luckily, the race had already been suspended and I didn’t lose any places. I will have to set a different tempo from the start in Race 2. So far this has eluded me and I hope to make up for it today”.
Mathjis Bakker (2nd Trofeo): “It was a great race and a hard-fought one. I am very pleased with how I drove and with my second spot. I saw David Baldi brake towards the end and I didn’t get why. I was right behind him and so Piancastelli overtook us both. Fortunately, the race was about to be suspended and so I kept hold of my second place, so that is great”.
Nicolò Piancastelli (3rd Trofeo): “First of all, I am sorry for the clash with Ardagna. I got to the straight and I saw Gaetano stray wide and thought I could get past. He narrowed the gap and we clashed. It is a real shame because we were in first and second and could have finished the race in those positions”.
