Second in qualifying to decide the Race 1 grid, he had to be content with eleventh in the second timed session when the rain prevented him improving his position.
Still, Niek Hommerson can consider himself satisfied after his debut in the GranTurismo MC Trofeo.
"Session 1 went well; better than I thought it would have. Yesterday, free practice didn't go that smoothly because the display didn't show the times and so I couldn't judge my tempo. I studied the track last night, working on the racing line. I think we saw the results today".
As mentioned, Hommerson's debut in the Trofeo was a positive one, even though he had to adapt to the car.
"This car is very different from the one I usually use because it is a racing car that is based on a roadgoing model. This means the drivers need to adapt and have to judge the load transfers as well as the braking because the car doesn't have ABS. Still, once you get used to it it is a joy to drive".
