"This had repercussions for the outcome of qualifying where I finished fifth and then seventh. Despite this, I tried to push as much as possible during the races and feel that this worked really well in race 2 when I got off to a good start and found myself in second spot. I had a close fight with Paolo Necchi until the grip on my tyres started to dictate the way I drove. From that point on, I opted to maintain my second place as I had a big enough lead over Smurra behind me. The result is useful in terms of the championship as I finished ahead of Zumerle, Smurra and Goldstein".
