Sundberg uncatchable in Qualifying 1

31/07/2010 - Brno
There was no-one to match Peter Sundberg in the qualifying session for Race 1.

The Swede tops the overall standings along with his partner Steven Goldstein. Today he secured pole by blowing away the entire field, keeping the pack over 1.3 seconds back. The only driver able to stick with the pace was Paolo Necchi. Sundberg stopped the clock at 2:10.645, just .693 quicker than the MotorMedia director's. Still, Necchi notched his highest ever qualifying place.

Behind the front two came Sergio Rota (2:11.963) and Pietro Zumerle (2:12.033) who headed a bunch packed within less than six tenths of each other. For Rota and Zumerle, third, respectively, in races 1 and 2 at Monza, it was a solid performance.

In row three will be Enrico Moncada and Marco Petrini, who were team mates up until the last round. Moncada set 2:12.156, just 26 thousandths faster than Petrini. Row four is an interesting one as it throws together the returning Francesco Maggi (2:12.329) and Ardagna Perez (2:12.456). At Monza Maggi made a fine comeback from the back of the field to the podium while the Venezuelan ran only five laps rather than his opponents' eight and this could give him an advantage in the race.

In ninth and tenth are ex-partners Piancastelli and Smurra, with the young Romagna driver (2:12.549) edging out the first ever Trofeo champion by three tenths(2:12.883). Next up is journalist Mauro Simoncini and Leonardo Maddalena, who is still getting to know the GranTurismo MC Trofeo.

Mariano Bellin is improving all the time and finished in thirteenth. Francesco La Mazza couldn't repeat his free practice form and posted the fourteenth best time. Andreas Segler and Tiziano Frazza closed out the forty minute session just up on Marcel Pawlicek and Stephane Enout, who was stuck in the pits with a technical problem.

Zumerle tops the timesheet in Qualifying 2

31/07/2010 - Brno
A perfect lap saw Pietro Zumerle take pole position in the Trofeo Maserati GranTurismo MC.

It was a well deserved pole because the Italian driver was one of the few who was able to really improve on his time between the first and second sessions.

In a tight qualifying session - the top nine are within nine tenths of each other - Zumerle came out on top with a time of 2:11.088. In second was Sergio Rota (2:11.361), another driver who got better in session two, this time by six tenths.

On row two is Paolo Necchi (2:11.365) and Nicolò Piancastelli (2:11.526). Necchi is making up for the outcome at Brands Hatch with another amazing performance while Piancastelli beat his first qualifying time by a second.

Also making progress is Francesco Maggi (2:11.665) who is sharing third row with journalist Mauro Simoncini (2:11.749). Coming up next is Ardagna Perez (2:11.962) and Enrico Moncada (2:12.014).

In ninth is Emanuele Smurra (2:12.049) who got the better of Leonardo Maddalena (2:12.947).

Steven Goldstein took a suprise eleventh spot and will be flanked by Francesco La Mazza, who made some progress after session one. Just behind them is the French journalist from Auto Hebdo, Stephane Enout and Tiziano Frazza.

The last four places are taken up by Andreas Segler, Vito Rinaldi, Franco Gallina and Marcel Pawlicek.
