An unusual day for Marco Petrini

An unusual day for Marco Petrini

The rain that fell through the night and following morning meant that the drivers had to start with wet weather tyres. However, the weather improved and the track dried out and this resulted in the drivers switching to slicks.

The conditions created no end of problems for many of the drivers, but not Marco Petrini and his new team mate, Franco Gallina, who finished the session in fifth.

"It was an odd day: this is my first time at this circuit and it reminds me of Mugello. I am sharing the drive with Franco Gallina for the first time in this Trofeo Maserati GranTurismo MC. When we started the weather was terrible but, after a few minutes, the conditions improved and I found myself on a dry track with wet weather tyres: it was really tough. I hope that things get better in the second free practice session so that I get a chance to study the racing line".
