Warm up

Silverstone - GBR

Maserati do well in the rain

Driving rain and cold (7 degrees) were the tough conditions that greeted the crews in the FIA GT1 World Championship this morning as they warmed up for the Tourist Trophy.

The race itself will take place at 15.15 (16.15 in Italy) at Silverstone.

The Vitaphone Racing Team and Triple H Team Hegersport worked on the set up and wet weather tyres as the Maserati MC12s proved competitive in these conditions.

Bartels/Bertolini's No.1 car ran 12 laps, setting a best lap of 2:16.958, as well as clocking one of the top intermediate times in sector two and closing out in sixth. The No.2 Vitaphone Racing Team car ended in sixteenth after Bernoldi/Ramos' 12 laps.

The two Triple H Team Hegersport MC12s also drove well: the No.33 car, crewed by Maragrtis/Heger finished eleventh after running 15 laps and posting an encouraging time of 2:17.176. In fourteenth came Bobbi/Longin's No.34 car after 13 laps.

Miguel Ramos, Vitaphone Racing Team – Maserati MC12
"I am over the moon with how this morning's warm up went. The car is really well balanced and it reacts well. There was a little traffic on the track but, this aside, I didn't have any problems. If it rains as hard during the race as it is now, I think we will be in with a shout."

Altrid Heger, Triple H Team Hegersport – Maserati MC12
"Our MC12 was well prepared for this weekend at Silverstone. Alex Margartis set a superb time in Q1. We were all set for a good result but then had a problem in yesterday's qualifying race which meant we were practically ruled out of racing as we were stuck in the pits for so long.
The team and the mechanics worked very hard and the car is primed: we have high hopes for this afternoon
