Andrea Bertolini (Maserati MC12 No. 1 – Vitaphone Racing Team) – “Then I had a Nissan ahead of me and couldn’t push as hard as I wanted. Still, I think that we worked really well and I am confident going into the race itself. The Maseratis have shown their reliability and competitiveness by all qualifying for Q3. Now we have to bring home important championship points”.
Enrique Bernoldi (Maserati MC12 No. 2 – Vitaphone Racing Team) – “It was a great qualifying session for us. Placing my car on fourth is a good result as I didn’t have fresh tyres on in Q3 and couldn’t have been any more competitive. All in all, I am happy with the work we have done. The car is running well and to have four Maseratis out of eight cars in Q3 shows the potential there is for us on this circuit”.
Nikolaus Mayr-Melnhof (Maserati MC12 No. 34 – Triple H Team Hegersport) – “Being here is fantastic. It is my first time in GT1 and it is an amazing experience. I am slowly getting to know the Maserati MC12; there is a high level of professionalism in the team and we are getting results from all the hard work we put in. The car is quick so things look good. This is also my first time at Portimao and it is a wonderful circuit”.
