German driver Thomas Mutsch, second overall and Bertolini/Bartels main rivals in the title race, will be trying to make up for exiting the stage on lap two of yesterday afternoon's Qualifying Race.
The result is even more significant as yesterday's retirement meant that they will start from the last row in this afternoon's Championship Race.
Second in the warm-up was Zonta/Kechele (1.34.312) in the Lamborghini (winners of the last round at Navarra) and in third was another Ford driven by Jani/Amindo (1:34.517).
The first of the Maserati MC12s was the N. 34 car fielded by Triple H Team Hegersport with Serra/Longo on board (eighth in 1:35.137). The other Brazilians from the Vitaphone Racing Team, Bernoldi/Negrao (twelfth - 1:35.548), was followed by Heger/Mueller's Maserati (1:35.554). In nineteenth came Bartels/Bertolini (1:36.791) who suffered with the 40 kg ballast weighing down the car.
