A rain affected warm up
The weather played a role in this morning’s warm up, one that saw Hezemans/Kumpen’s Corvette post the top time of 1:28.491.
The two Maserati MC12s ended up fifth (Bartels/Bertolini) and fourteenth (Müller/Ramos) on the timesheet after being held up by heavy traffic and a wet surface.
The morning rain forced all the cars into fitting wet weather tyres but, after just a few laps, the track began to dry out and the GT2 drivers were the first to come back in and make the switch back to slicks. The choice proved to be a good one as they immediately began setting very quick times. After having come into the pits for their change, the two Maseratis drove straight into traffic, meaning that they couldn’t drive flat out. Still, even on a wet surface, Bartels/Bertolini and Müller/Ramos clocked a series of lap times that matched the leaders’.
