Michael Bartels: «It was a fantastic weekend for the Vitaphone Racing Team and now we are back in the lead in the Drivers’ and Team championships».

Andrea Bertolini: «Considering all the ballast we had on board, we should be more than pleased with this second place as it is like a victory. The whole squad worked very hard to get the car into tip-top shape for the race. Compared to the Corvette we were not superfast but this was because of the weight we were carrying and the size of the restrictors. I managed to stay with Bernoldi in the curves but there was nothing I could do to keep up in the straights.

The race was exciting from the start as there were eight cars all bunched together. After Alex [Muller, ed] crashed out I found myself in second behind Bernoldi.

Thanks to this result, we are now back in the overall lead and our pre-race objective has been reached. This is another reason to thank the entire team for preparing the car so well yesterday».

Michael Bartels (2):
«We knew that we wouldn’t win because of all the ballast weighing down the car. Yesterday we worked on preparing a well balanced car, trying to find the right set up to carry the 80 kg – a load that would be too much for any crew. Luckily, we have enough experience to deal with races like this and we opted to get the car to the finish and collect precious championship points. Certainly, the kilos we ‘gained’ here will be felt on the ups and downs at Portimao and it won’t be easy.

I was also happy to see so many fans during my stint. There was a great atmosphere out there and this means the policy of having free entry to our races turned out well. I hope this is repeated in future, starting from Portimao. I think that we could see at least 30,000 turn up if it is. [Today, there were 15,000 spectators, Ed]»

Alessandro Pier Guidi:
«I am pleased at how I have driven coming back into the FIA GT: second at Spa and third here in Budapest. I hope to go on like this and, at Portimao, aim to do even better. Today’s result is pleasing even though, in my second stint, I felt the same front end vibrations as in qualifying and the warm up. We still don’t know why it happens but it makes it really difficult to drive. Before the vibrations were felt the car was very quick and I would like to thank the team for this».

Matteo Bobbi:
«I had a good stint and didn’t have any particular problems. I set some competitive lap times. My aim was to stay in a good position, hand over to Alessandro and then finish the race. I am pleased to be here and hope to improve on today’s result in the next race».
