Michael Bartels placed the Vitaphone Racing MC12 on the third row by setting the fifth best time of 1'24"394, just .646 off poleman Karl Wendlinger. This was at the end of a tight timed session with seven cars bunched within a second of each other.
The other Vitaphone Racing crew was also quick with Miguel Ramos and Alexander Negraõ posting the seventh best time of 1'24"699. However, the duo will start from twelfth on the grid tomorrow after being hit with a penalty that sees them relegated five places, a decision made during the Adria event. The third MC12, driven by Ben Aucott and Alain Ferté and fielded by JMB Racing, set the fifteenth fastest time of 1'28"424.
