Ramos-Negraõ steer the MC12 to glory in France

Negraõ and Ramos triumph at Nogaro

Alexander Negraõ and Miguel Ramos raced to a fine win at Nogaro at a meet that confirmed the MC12’s standing as the car to beat in the FIA GT.

Negraõ scored his first FIA GT win in France in what is his debut season while it is the second victory for Ramos in this championship. The ground was laid for victory from free practice on and the warmer temperatures on race day meant that the MC12’s tyres were ideal in terms of grip.

A clash between Bertolini’s MC12 and Gollin’s car saw the other Maserati miss out on a deserved second place; the no.1 car crossed the line in sixth but still picked up useful championship points. Zolder, in the next race on the calendar, could see Vitaphone collect the Teams’ title and Maserati the Constructors’ championship.

Comments after the qualifying at Nogaro
Alexandre Negraõ: «The car is very good, perhaps just a little slower because of the 50 kg ballast we're carrying, but I think that today we laid the ground for a climb on the podium tomorrow.»
