2008 FIA GT Championship
Maserati shines through
The 2008 FIA GT season was a successful one for the two Maserati MC12s fielded by the Vitaphone Racing Team as both cars were victorious at the end of the ten rounds in the calendar.
Andrea Bertolini and Michael Bartels teamed up again after claiming the Drivers' title in 2006 and came through to win in what turned out to be a thrilling climax to the season.
In the Team series, Vitaphone Racing took the title for the fourth straight time as their superior organisation and teamwork was crucial during tough moments. The Modenese GTs did not have an easy season as the regulations benefited the other cars in terms of engine performance (thanks to their wider restrictors).
However, it was a year in which race strategy and consistent performance were repaid as the titles were racked up. The highlight of the year was the triumph in the 24 Hours of Spa where the MC12 put on a splendid show to fill three of the top four places and score a fantastic one-two for the Vitaphone Racing Team.
