Maserati MC12 on the second row at Oschersleben

The Maserati MC12 driven by Andrea Bertolini and Andrea Piccini, and fielded by Playteam Sarafree, will line up for tomorrow’s FIA GT race on row two.

TThe fifth round of the championship will be held at the Oschersleben circuit in Germany. Andrea Bertolini ran seven qualifying laps and set a time of 1’25”705 (at an average of 155.240 km/h). This performance saw him take fourth spot on the grid. Christian Montanari, at the wheel of the Vitaphone Racing Team Maserati MC12, also did well. Sharing the drive with Miguel Ramos, the driver from San Marino stopped the clock at 1’26”270 despite having 50kg of extra weight imposed by the Federation to deal with.

His lap was good enough for sixth. The Vitaphone Racing Team currently leads the Teams’ championship and today worked on getting the car’s balance right for the race. They will go into tomorrow with high hopes of doing well. The other Maserati MC12 fielded by the Vitaphone Racing Team was driven in qualifying by German Michael Bartels. He clocked the ninth quickest time of 1’26”400. On row six for Playteam Sarafree with a time of 1’26”581 is Alessandro Pier Guidi. The fastest lap in the Citation Cup was set by the JMB Racing Maserati MC12 crewed by Joe Macari and Ben Aucott.

They will be hoping to snatch the overall lead in the championship reserved to non-professional drivers. In second will be the other JMB Racing MC12 with Antoine Gosse and Peter Kutemann on board. The race will get underway tomorrow at 13.15 and will end at 15.15. Live coverage will begin on Sky Sport Extra at 13.00.
