Comments after the race at Bucharest
Andrea Bertolini: «It was a team victory. In conditions like today's a great strategy is important and it is crucial not to make mistakes».
Andrea Piccini: «I think that Bertolini and I raced well as the conditions were really tough. The Pirelli tyres were exceptional and the car was spot on. After a difficult start to the season, this win is what was needed. I hope to repeat the feat at Monza in our home race, even though we know that it will be difficult due to the balast we will have on our MC12».
Andrea Bertolini (2): «From this point of view, both Andrea and I drove perfectly. The team was also excellent. Today's result was also down to Pirelli as we managed to get through the race without changing tyres. Despite this, we were easily able to hold off the others, even at the end. This is a significant result in terms of the championship that, as I stated after qualifying, we want to win again».
Christian Montanari: «It was a deserved podium as we were quick and consistent over the whole weekend. The drive through meant that we could not improve our placing. Having said this, I am very happy. A city circuit is tough enough in the dry and so it was not easy with so much water on the surface; we are extremely satisfied».
Comments after the qualifying at Bucharest
Alessandro Pier Guidi: «I am very happy with pole as this is my first outing on a city circuit and because it is only my third race in this championship».
Andrea Bertolini: «Seeing three Maseratis in the top three places in qualifying is fabulous, even though I am a little unhappy not to have taken pole. The car has good traction, a very important factor on this track, together with agility. Our MC12 handles well in the chicanes and we can also count on the fine performance of the Pirelli tyres. They have been quick and consistent throughout the weekend. I have high hopes for the race tomorrow, one in which it will be important to win some points in order to close the gap on the leading drivers. I will be doing everything to defend my title».
Alessandro Pier Guidi (2): «I think that it is a great result for the team, for Maserati and Pirelli to have two cars on the front row. The tyres were fundamental in this result. Starting on pole is an advantage here as the road section is not very wide and does not aid overtaking».
Christian Montanari: «In truth it is not easy to find the limit on a city circuit given that there are no run off areas and that accidents are just waiting to happen. This morning the weather made carrying out our preparations difficult. However, we managed to complete a good programme of work. I am pleased for the team and for Maserati. Three cars in the top three places in qualifying is a fantastic result!».
