The complex includes a kart track and has been used for events not wholly linked to the world of engines. The circuit measures 3667 metres and is set in a flat area with very few ups and downs.
The main straight is a long one and ends with a left hand turn, followed immediately by the Hotel hairpin, a right. A short stretch leads into another similarly sweeping hairpin, the Hasseröder. From here it is into a fast section that takes in two shallow lefts (Triple), before heading into another testing bend that brings a 180° change of direction. After a long straight section, the Bilstein right-left comes up next and then a right hand turn that is the preparation for the long Stadium Straight.
At the end of this fast section there are two more swift curves that call for lightning changes in direction, the Shell Esses. The penultimate curve, a right, is a testing one and the last on the circuit, the Spielmacher, another right, is more rounded than in previous years: it is now tapered going into it and wider coming out. It is essential to use the whole of the track and exploit the car’s traction to get to the end of the start-finish straight with the highest possible speed.
